how does a vasectomy work and is it very painful for the man? please only answer if you have had one.

I have had one, and I went to work the next morning. They enter through the scrotum and remove about 1/4 in of the vas deferens, the tube that is the highway for the 'little men' After ward you still have 20 or so loads of live ammo, but it does work. Much easier than women getting 'fixed' and sometimes birthcontrol causes a woman more problems that is corrects.

I have done many, i m a doc. It's done under local anaesthesia which is very effective. There is no pain. Person can resume work next day. It comprises of ligation n division of vas deferens which carries sperms from testes to seminal vesicles. Thereby preventing transport of sperms to seminal vesicles. Semen (produced by seminal vesicle n prostate) is still produced in normal quantity, but it doesn't contain sperms. It is called azoospermia. So, woman in whose vagina it is deposited, doesn't get pregnant. It's permanent sterilization, unless somebody wants a reversal.

My husband had one back in October and he was out of commission for two days, but after that he was rearing to go. They tell you not to have sex for the first week after you have the big V and then after 6 weeks, or 20 ejaculations you must leave a semen sample to see if there are any remaining sperm. If there are then the vasectomy was either not successful or they may give you a couple more weeks to get the remaining sperm out of your body.

My husband had one; it takes less than an hour, and he was soar for a couple days. They usually do them on Fridays so the guy can watch TV and sit on a bag of frozen peas all weekend.

Anyway, I have had one and it's not painful, just uncomfortable. And I really think you have to have testicles to relate to what I mean by "uncomfortable" but it's just a constant pulling feeling for a few days.

a vasectomy can be done now without cutting.
the area is numbed beforehand, so it is not painful, and only moderately painful afterwards and only for a couple of days.

I got mine 20 years ago, at a low-budget non-profit clinic. There are better places around, and the technology is much better today. Even though mine was 鈥渄one in a cave, using stone-age tools鈥?not literally), it experienced almost no pain at all. I only took aspirin, for the pain, and some kind of antibiotic.

I had it done on a Friday afternoon, and was back to work on Monday. I drove myself home, and stopped two places on the way (Blockbuster Video, and Walgreens).

It was a piece of cake.

I belong to a club of couples that chose not to have children. Almost every man in the group, had a vasectomy. Nobody is complaining.

Oh, BTW, it works. I got it at age 21. I am now almost 41. I have no kids!
