Can all vasectomy's be reversed? |
My husband had a vasectomy in 2006 while I was pregnant with my 3rd child. I have told him that I may want to try for a boy in 4 to 5 years when all three of my children are in school. He said that the doctor that did his vasectomy told him that the way he does it is non-reversable. How can some be reversable and some not? Is vasectomy reversal a common procedure? What is the success rate? Thank you for your answers. A doctor can attempt toe reverse any vasectomy. Yes reversal is common. The chance of success is less than 30%, and it gets less as time goes by. The cost is about 10 grand, and there is no warrentee. No insurance will not cover it. all can be attempted to be reversed but i had a doctor tell me that just because you do it does not mean it will work. You can allways try but the chances of having kids again is slim I think it depends on how they cut the tubes. My brother-in-law got his reversed but his were cut and clipped. I guess some doctors cauterize (sp?) the tubes, which make it difficult to do a reversal. The outcome of my brother-in-law's reversal .... twins!!! lol Good Luck!!!!!!!!! I don't know about *all*, but most can be reversed. My husband had his reversed 2 years after the initial vasectomy, and he had most of his count, motility and mobility back within 6 months. Unfortunately, we weren't able to have to conceive after 2 years and quit trying. |
