Vasectomy--Can you share your experience and give me courage? |
From what I know, the reversal procedure costs money and may fail--just like any surgery. To help me make the decision on vasectomy, please share your experience. My ex got a vasectomy after we discovered I had horrible reactions to most female contraceptives. We had been together 2 years and were sure that we didn't want kids. The procedure went well, and he was all healed up and 'ready to go' within a few days, although the doctor said he should wait a month. Long story short- we broke up, 2.5 years after the surgery, and the fact of the matter is his biggest regret is getting it done- who knows if he will find some gal who just absolutely wants kids??? IMO, I think he shouldn't have gotten it done, if he wasn't 100% certain that he never ever wanted kids, regardless of his partner (and I thought he was, or I wouldn't have let him do it) because as you say, the reversal is not guaranteed and is expensive. But, I guess time will only tell how things go in his life... not my business anymore. The only person who should decide this is YOU. I had it done after deciding I was happy with the children I have. I've had no regrets at all, but then I was quite sure of myself. I'm divorced now, but still wouldn't go back and undo the procedure. I'm happy to be focused on the children I have and in trying to teach them how to live a good life...rather than wanting more children now. |
