My husbands vasectomy?

We have really looked into this and now with three kids all under 4, we have decided that my husband go for a vasectomy. We have looking on websites and some chat rooms about vasectomy. Just wanted to know what other people thought about this, Thanks for any input x x

I underwent the operation myself about 17 years ago. We both decided that we need some sort of permanent method of contraception.
As my wife had to have 2 Cesarean sections with the birth of our daughters I though it only fair.
I had it done under local anaesthetic and the whole thing was over and done with in half an hour. It was painless, and apart from a little discomfort over the next 24 hours it was all fine.
I was back to work within 48 hours with no side effects.
I would totally recommend it if both parties are agreeable.

It is really up to the couple. My husband had one about 5 years ago. His Urologist did it in his office. He gave my husband some pain medication and I took him home. He had to keep a cold pack on his genitals to keep the scrotum from swelling. He did this on a Friday and was back working a construction job on the following Monday morning.

It's minor and much less risky than the female sterilization. Good luck both of you!

as long as you both agree that you will have no more children go for it. My husband had one approx. 20 years ago. He did it because the male heals faster from this type of procedure then a female does from getting her tubes tied. It is a whole lot less involved. He said their was no pain involved and, the only side effect was some swelling and bruising. He got it done on a friday and saturday was a tad bit sore, nothing to complain about mainly swelling and by sunday he was back at work with no complications.

Good idea, better than you having an operation. It is nothing, my husband drove himself there and back. It is easy for the man, and a surgery for you. You do not need to then worry about other pregnancies. Feel lucky that you have this option. If you ever wanted another, you can have it reversed. If that does not work, you can do INVITRO, but sounds like you have enough, so you may not ever be interested in that. Go ahead and you will have that worry off your back, and back to raising the ones you have. Good luck.

Good for him.... go for it..... makes no difference to sexual performance or anything related to it! Just get on with it! No fears about a pregnancy! What are you waiting for!!!

I am sorry but having something missing from a guys semen is very disturbing. why would u want that? why wouldnt you just go get steralized. you are a very selfish person and should have your privates carved from your body!

I had it done about 8 years ago. It isn't that painfull at all. When they give you the antithetic it stings for about 5 seconds and that's all. The testicles are a bit sore for about 3-4 days and that's all. i had mine done on a Friday and was back at work by Monday. I was testing this out again (if you know what i mean) after about 5 days. There is no real side effects and I even drove myself home from getting it done. If you want to know any more details let me know.

US ARMY MED/RETIRED, If he WANTS it let him have it. He should talk it over with a therapist-really. The "modern male" can say it's a good idea but the "primal male mind" could have a problem with it. He needs to come to grips with the fact that he will not be able to sire, even if he does not want to, that very idea is 100% against our natural goal as a species. When he KNOWS he has overcome the primal mind-he can do it and not feel less a male.
This might sound like a strange view, but I have had a ton of male friends do it with out facing the fact of "shooting Blanks". And all the kidding they do to themselves is painful for a full-loader to listen to sometimes. A few friends are actually silently remorseful and even grudgeful towards their wives. Even have become less assertive because of their view of their male role since having one.
You have to see that males are really taking away the biggest role that they have in a species. Too many times these days, we talk away things that we see as un-important that are actually a very big part of our basic animal make-up. Modern man truly discounts many of the traits that got us to where we are today-for better or worse!

A vasectomy is a 鈥減iece of cake鈥?

I went to a non-profit clinic in Dallas. I had to fill out some paperwork, with a councilor. It was just 鈥渂oilerplate鈥?stuff. Then we had a group session with something like 5 other guys. We watched a video, then scheduled our surgeries. Mine was on a Friday.

I got in done, after work. It took about 15 min. I chatted with the surgeon during the process.

I drove myself to Walgreen鈥檚, and Blockbuster video, then went home. I just watched movies the next day, and pretty much the same on Sunday. I was back to work on Monday (standing, but not lifting job). We were having sex with a condom by the following weekend. About three weeks later, I was well enough to move to a larger apartment.

I don't remember it hurting. I had a prescription for a pain killer, but I didn't bother. I just took aspirin. It was nothing.

That was 20 years ago. I think getting the vasectomy was the greatest gift a man could give himself for his 22nd birthday. Even today, I still relish in the novelty.

The vasectomy only cost me $250. The cost over that last 20 years comes to about $1.42 a month.

Having a vasectomy in 1977 was the best $200 I have ever spent (yes, $200....it WAS 1977). The assistant shaved my scrotum, I got a local anesthesia, a small incision was made on the right side of my scrotum. The doc pulled out one tube at a time, clipped it, cut out 2cm, cauterized the ends and put it back in. I think I had 2 or 3 stitches on the incision. I went home, put a bag of frozen peas against my groin wrapped in a hand towel. I wore tight speedos all day and night. The next day we went to my in-laws for a cook out. I sat and didn't get involved in any physical activities. My 2 sisters-in-law were very ...catering...to me and teasing about my operation. Oldest asked if she could see the scar when it healed (15 at the time) and wanted to know when I'd be shooting blanks. Both asked all sorts of questions...away from mom, dad and wife.
I laid out on Sunday, too. Back to my semi-desk job on Monday. I had to go out to the weapons area at times, but I had scheduled my work for all office work for a few days. By Thursday I did go out to the weapons area (bombs, missiles..I was stationed at an aviation weapons station) and walked around without any discomfort. I had to give a sperm sample...seems to me after 30 days, but I really don't remember. Once I was deemed CLEAR, I was able to begin making love again without fear. It's been 40 years, and 4 months. No bad side effects. When my wife and I feel like making love, we don't have to worry about pills or condoms and it's really great to just do it when and where we like.

I had mine when I was 25. That was 10 years ago. I was never married and never had kids. It didn鈥檛 hurt at all. I don鈥檛 remember the cost, but it was pretty cheap. I鈥檇 say the surgery took about 20 min. I have no visible scars. I sat around my apartment for about three days after the surgery.

I never went back in to get a sperm count done. I am single so I use condoms anyway.

Think about it, your kids are under 4, you may miss little ones when they are a little older. I know i did.

I had a vasectomy last year, we have four children. We had originally planned for me to have the procedure done about two and half years ago. We already had three girls so we decided that we had done our bit for the population. We went to see the nurse and she booked us in to see the specialist. Two weeks later my wife uttered those much used words "I'm late!"
It turned out that she was about two months pregnant, the nurse that booked her pregnancy was the same nurse that had previously booked our vasectomy, needless to say she found it difficult to write the notes on account of her laughing.

I know this won't help you much but I hope it lightens the subject a little. We went on to have our first boy in October 2005 and I had the snip last June, we had to wait until the baby was four months old before the doctor wold even consider it. Although the procedure was uncomfortable it wasn't overly painful, (the drugs helped!!), and now we don't have to worry about getting my wife getting pregnant every other year.

Vasectomy surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Indian Med Guru Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Indian Med Guru Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

It is a minor generally low discomfort procedure. Unlike female sterilisation. which I never recommend, it has no mortality and minimal morbidity. As long i you don't mind pain, it is possible to prove to yourself and your partner that you are still as good as you ever were, within 24 hours. ( Though you also need to use protection if you do.)

Just get your husband to ask his doctor. Chances are he'll run a clinic on weekends and do it himself, for a fee.
The op takes about 30 minutes and he'll be fully recovered in a week to 10 days.

It is a simple operation.They discharge from hospital on the same or next day.You can have sex with out fear of pregnancy and without condom(known parner) after one month.It safe to use condoms up to one month.The operation can be reversed if needed later.
