Vasectomy Reversal? |
Can you get a Vasectomy reversed, and if so how much does it cost? Yes it is possible, but not ethical. For the most part it is a scam. The cost is about 10 grand. About all they are selling is "false hope". The chances of success are about 30%, but the doctor won't tell you that. The doctor will make claims that the success rate is somthing like 80%. I don't believe it's possible. Guys usually freeze their sperm before they have the procedure in case they ever change their minds. Sure it can be reversed. The cost depends on who you go to. Our reversal cost us $7000 and was very successful (hubby has lots of sperm now and we have another child together). Success rates depend on skill of surgeon and the amount of time between the vasectomy and the VR (so anywhere from 30% pg rates for a 15 year old vasectomy to 76% pg rates for a 3 year old or newer vasectomy). Most reversals cost between 5 to 7 thousand US dollars. There are a few doctors here in the US that do reversals much cheaper, between $1500 and $2000 dollars and a few that charge quite a bit more, even up to $15000. If you do get a reversal, research the surgeon well, ask for references and statistics, and trust your own instinct. |
