Vasectomy complications????????

My husband had a vasectomy about 9 months ago. Within a week he developed a reaction to the stitches on the left side. He went back (men hold your breath) and had to had the pus squeazed out. (Sorry, important detail) Since then, he has had a constant rubbing feeling when he moves and it he sits wrong, feels like he's being poked with a knife. He says he swears he feels the clips! But it's just that side. Has anyone else had a similar experience.....feeling the clips. What was the outcome? I made him an appointment by recommendation of another MD stating that was not normal and it needed to be checked, but his dr didn't seem to be the least bit concerned and gave him an appt for 6 weeks from now. Any thoughts?????? Thanks

search post vasectomy pain
it is more common than men think
I suffered for 3 years after much discussion the best and cheapest solution was to remove the testicles completely
That solved all the pain issues
I have been back to my old self after the surgery.
Should never had the vasectomy .

my doc used sutures and yes, i could feel them poke me at first. in time i assume scar tissue or whatever built up and it went away. at first my orgasms felt different too, but that too cleared up in time.

I'm surprised that he would still have stitches after 9 months. That's a long time. Having discomfort after a vasectomy is normal but for that long of a time period I think it's unusual. I would demand an appointment right away.

This is not normal. I know a lot of men that had them. Nobody has complained.

I had mine done on a Friday. I was back to work on Monday. I was fully recovered on the following weekend. I never had any problems at all.

He should have been fully recovered in less than 9 days.

He should have had a more traditional vasectomy. Mine used no stitches, and no clips. The "clip" type is much more prone to failure

If he did not get the "clip" type, but he thinks he is feeling clips, then I think the whole problem is in his head.

A vasectomy is like any other surgery. Most infections are caused by not following instructions. If within the first few days, the man lifts anything, lets a child, or dog jump in his lap, etc, he will likely have problems. You might say it is like going out for a steak dinner after getting a tooth pulled.

This could be a big deal and shouldn't be happening 9 months after the surgery.
Convince the doctor you're worried and ask that you get an appointment sooner than that.
If your doctor finds it unnecessary or refuses, just go to a new doctor.

It's not normal. Go to another doctor and get it checked out. Think about a good lawyer as well.
