I had a vasectomy 19 years ago. Is it possible to start producing sperm again?

Got divorced about a year ago. My new girlfriend stresses out every month about getting prgenant even though I told her about the vasectomy. My ex-wife & I never used protection after the vasectomy and she never got pregnant. Can sperm be produced after all these years?

I would say you had very little chance of producing sperm again after all that time. Tell her not to worry. Vasectomy is said to be 99.9% safe.

You are still producing sperm but is absorbed in your own body. As for getting your vasectomy reversed, only your doctor could tell you. He might tell you,.. he could do it but it might not work. If its that important to you and your girlfriend, you could try. But if, its doesn't work out....if she really loves you it shouldn't matter. After all, assuming she knew about your vasectomy before she fell in love with you. She should except you as you are.

A vasectomy doesn't stop sperm production, it cuts the tube that allows the sperm out of the penis. If you have the operation reversed after 19 years, there's only a small chance of pregnancy, because the tube is damaged in the initial operation.

If your gf is worried, go to a fertility clinic and have a sperm count done.
