Vasectomy question...?

My boyfriend and I are getting married in July. We are both 23 years old. My bf will be 24 in July, after we are married. We have decided that we don't want to have children of our own. Is there any age restrictions to getting a vasectomy? Does it differ by state? Does it differ by doctor?

i dotn think it really matters on age...as long as u are 18 and can pay for it.

most guidelines I have heard is 25 and 2 kids, if married you even have to sign a consent so you cant later change your mind and sue. I really suggest at such a young age that you look at alt. methods, like you take the depo shot, because trust me once it is done, there is no going back, and 10 years from now you may change your mind.

YOUR AGE IS NOT A PROBLEM, HOWEVER THE DOCTOR WILL STILL TRY AND TALK YOU OUT OF IT AS YOU MAY CHANGE YOUR MIND IN A FEW YEARS AND THEN IT A HARDER OPERATION TO REVERSE IT.
GOOD LUCK

No age restrictions

I don't think there is any restriction if you are of legal age. But just a peice of advice, rethink your decision about not having a child... Now you are young, but such decision haunt people in their middle ages. Also if you get divorced (always a possiblity), he will have given up his opportunity of having a child with any women. You should wait until your atleast 30 to make such a decision. good luck.

I don't think its illegal, its just not advised, because so many people change their minds.

My wife and I didn't think we wanted kids when we met. 10 years later, we felt differently.

Seriously, you could have children 12 years from now quite easily. You don't want kids now, but how will you feel in 12 years? Think about what you wanted 12 years ago. You know, when you were 11. I bet you've changed a bit, haven't you?

The doctors would urge you to seriously consider a non-permenant method, and I'd agree with them.

That said, I congratulate you for not being pressured to have kids. Don't have them unless you want them!

Good luck.
