Vasectomy - When is it safe for a woman to stop taking her birth control pills?

My husband had a vasectomy in May. He went back in August for a semen analysis. His results came back negative. I am ready to get off of the pill, but have some concerns, especially about the risks!

A vasectomy has about a 99.9% effectiveness rate... meaning that, out of 1000 couples who use it as their only birth control, one will get pregnant after a year. Usually, if the vasectomy is going to fail, it will happen in the first four months.

Since his semen analysis came back negative, you are good to go. If you are really concerned about failure, you can give it some more time and have another semen analysis done, but the odds are frankly tiny.

If his semen analysis came back neg your good to go.. My hubby didnt go back for his we had sex a month with a condom and then after that we went natural and its been a yr now and no babies its the best. Relax get off the pill and enjoy

my husband had a vasectomy and we were told to wait until at least 6 to a year to stop taking them.

I had two negatives before I stopped using condoms (about 6 months). My current girlfriend had her tubes tied. That way we are doubly safe.

Mine was fully recovered in a week. I have heard many men claim that they had some pain months later. That usually means they physically exerted themselves (maybe lifted something) a little too...
