What can be done for chronic vaginitis? |
I am diabetic with severe gastroparesis (to the point of being tube fed) and have been going to the doctor for the last 3 years with recurring vaginitis/yeast. But, in the last year, I have had a chronic case of vaginitis that nothing seems to help. I have tried Monistat, Flagistatin, yogurt on a tampon, douching with garlic juice, douching with tea tree oil, and blow drying my vagina after every shower. It is embarrasing because the discharge smells - sort of like yogurt or strong cheese? and there is a lot of it - enough that I need to change panty liners a couple times a day. Also, I am not, nor have I been, sexually active for over 5 years, so it's not a v.d. Inserting yogurt into your vagina is not the way to go. You should consume (eat) yogurt on a daily basis. The enzymes in yogurt help to reduce yeast infections drastically. I know I also suffer from yeast infections since I was very young. Vinegar douches help to clean out the vaginal tract too. Keeping your vaginal area dry, and not wearing tight fitting clothing also helps. You can purchase acidophilus tablets from any drug store even Wal-Mart carry them for cheat prices. These tables has live cultures in them and will help with the bad bacteria and not mess with the good bacteria that the vagina needs. Take two tablets a day during a meal and drink them with a full glass of water. Eat lots of yogurt as yogurt has live cultures also and will help as well. Stay away from bread or limit your intake, beer or anything that has a lot of yeast. Don't eat lots of sweets because yeast will have a field day with sugar and multiply. Make sure you use Dove or Caress bar soap or vaginal products to cleanse with verse regular soap. This can cause irritation and easly allow yeast to invade. At night sleep with no underwear on or only cotton undies, this way lots of air flow is coming in instaed of heat trapping it in. Remember you play a major part on what's happening to your body so just be careful and be very aware of what your body can and can't handle. Last but not least least stay stress free because this can also trigger hormone levels and get plenty of sleep. |
