What is bactrial vaginitis and how can i treat it naturally?

is there a way to treat bactrial vaginits naturally without drugs?

Hi Angelic.
Bacterial Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina which is caused by excessive growth of the bacteria called Gardnerella vaginitis.
1. A good hygiene becomes very important
2. Drink at least four ounces of pure cranberry juice everyday to fight this bacterial disease.
3. Having eight-ounces of yoghurt everyday keep women away from frequent problems of bacterial vaginitis or vaginosis. The acidophilus bacteria present in the yoghurt helps in creating a healthy bacterial environment.
4. If the vagina is swollen you can use plain tea bag soaked in water, cooled in refrigerator to be applied externally to prevent itching. The tannin in tea gives a soothing touch.
5.You can also use cold compress which alleviates the swelling and itching of the vagina. The cooling factor squeezes the blood vessels and prevents it from swelling and turning red.
6. Avoid tight clothes and try to wear cotton panties which absorb moisture and provide good air circulation.

A product called 'ThreeLac' you can find it on the web

Eat or apply plain yogurt directly to the vagina. Alternatively, a tampon soaked in yogurt can be inserted.

- Garlic has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Garlic can be taken internally or can be applied directly on the vagina.

- Use calendula herb to reduce the inflammation.

- Herbs like tea tree oil, black walnut, Echinacea and goldenseal are effective in treating bacterial vaginitis.

- Use boric acid douche to acidify vaginal pH.

- Douche to reduce inflammation Add 12 tsp of calendula to boiling water, steep the mixture and cool it before use.

- Soak a tea bag in water and cool it in refrigerator and then apply it to the vagina

All of these answers are very good, but wanted to add that if you don't like to eat yogurt, you can always get acidophilus in pill form(good bacteria in yogurt).

raw diced up garilc cloves 2 cloves 3x daily
Raw apple cider vinegar (3tb 3x daily)
plain yogurt douch
garlic clove suppository
a few drops of tea tree oil on a tampon

* candida cleanse and diet (Very important. bacteria also feeds on sugar/gluten)

Do not follow the advices that suggest you treat the symptoms rather than the cause. You need to simply cleanse your body. Candida is the cause of your problems. Candida is a fungus that causes yeast infections. Heres what u need to do. A colon cleanse, a parasite cleanse, a candida cleanse(very important). Also eating yogurt like yoplait and taking probiotics put back healthy bacteria in yor body. A candida cleanse will flush out all the bad fungus. Other cleanses to do are liver/gallbladder cleanse, kindney cleanse, heavy meatal cleanse. When you do these these cleanses it will be hard for you to even get a cold but most of all you will get rid vaginitis/yeast infections. Do some searches on the word 'candida' and see what it is all about. Also do searches on the cleanses i have mentioned and see the health benefits.

Yogurt-plain unsweetened. Not lite or anything like that. I agree use a tampon to apply.
Try olive oil.
Don't douche please, but definately you can cleanse the area w/ the recommended solutions. Pour in a water bottle and wash area as best as you can.
Also eat lot's of yogurt at this time. If you don't eat yogurt, like me, take the acidophollis pills regularly to keep from having this problem.
Rub cold aloe vera juice on the area.(my favorite)
Use a separate wash cloth than the one used for the face.
Make sure it's not your soap that's giving you trouble. (Dove soap burns me though i luv the smell)
Once your menstruation comes it will set your ph levels straight again. Let the blood cover all parts of the vagina for relief (don't use tampons, just pads at this time)
All the best!
O! last tip: don't eat "yeasty" type foods! that was my culprit. Also ,if u r on antibiotics, that will cause this too!
