Does anyone have vaginismus? Anything that you can offer that helped you that would help you out??

I was recently told that i have Vaginismus and i was wondering if anyone else out there has had this and have gotten past this.

Definition:

Vaginismus is an involuntary spasm of the muscles surrounding the vagina. The spasms close the vagina.

Vaginismus is considered a disorder of sexual dysfunction. It has several possible causes, including past sexual trauma or abuse, psychological factors, or a history of discomfort with sexual intercourse. Sometimes no cause can be found.

Vaginismus is an uncommon condition, occurring in less than 2% of women in the United States.

Women with varying degrees of vaginismus often develop anxiety regarding sexual intercourse. The condition causes penetration to be difficult and painful, or even impossible.

Does anyone have any advise as to how to do the exercises that the doctor gave you to do and if so what eercises help you and is there anything that you can tell me that will help me out????? Need answers please!!!!

Start with www.vaginismus.com - you can order yourself a set of graduated dilators there. They come with a full set of instructions on how to work with them.

Then, go to Yahoo groups and search for vaginismus. There are several support groups available for women who are currently suffering from the disorder.

It's really NOT that uncommon. Most women experience secondary vaginismus at least once in their lives.

I don't have vaginismus but I have talked to several women who have it. One of the things they found to be of help was doing physical therapy done by physical therapists that are specially trained to deal with women's issues.
