Anyone have advise for curing vaginismus?

I have been recently diagnosed with this and doctor has given me dialators, and in the info he gave it mentions doing kegels as well. Not sure how often to do any of this.
thanks

As someone who is a recovering Vaginismus sufferer, I can't understand why a doctor would recommend Kegels. Your vaginal muscles are strong enough - that's why you're in this frustrating situation.

You should work with the dilators every day. Start with the smallest one, and put the others away. When you are comfortable with the first size (and by comfortable, I mean that you should be able to insert without causing yourself any distress) then switch up to the next size. Sitting and staring at the largest one will only discourage you.

Visit the website www.vaginismus.com - it has a plethora of accurate information and treatment instructions.

Best of luck to you.

First of all, has your doctor given you any time lines? How long did he suggest you use the dilators?
As for doing the Kegels, because they are exercises which can tighten and relax the vaginal walls, you can do them when ever you think of them. Getting the muscles to relax would be what you would need, and it would give you much more control over those muscles.
I have done Kegels ever since my daughters have been born and I have great muscle control, I think it might be a great idea to do them hand in hand with the dialators

trichomonas vaginalis is the culprit, its usually a prescription drug called Flagyl (Metroiondazole) orally taken. Another method is vaginal douches using vinegar diluted in water ofcourse, it literally kills the trich organism by decreasing the pH making it more acidic at (3.8-4.2), trich thrives in a pH of 5-6. Other meds are suppositories like Silver Picrate, Furazilodone... seek medical advice first just to be safe. Plus abstain from sex if possible, but if it aint and i guess it aint use a condom, avoid vaginal fluid contact, maintain a good hygiene... it's primarily sanitary measures.

I guess I would concur that you need to ask the doctor how often to use the dialators. However, if these and the kegels don't work after some months, start doing some research on vulvodynia in general. The National Vulvodynia Association is a place to start:
