Anyone ever suffered with vaginismus? |
if u have please let me know what the solutions r! how do i approach my doc as i dont wanna have a examination as im too scared. Not me, but I know what Vaginismus is. I read it in a book sometime ago. The only thing you could do is go seek professional help because that sickness is mostly caused by psychological factor. Its the most annoying thing i know that! Basically Vaginismus is a physchological state that effects you down there making you tense your muscles even though you think you are not tense. To stop it from happening you have to programme yourself to relax. If you have had a previous bad experience this is often what will cause it and you sub consciously tighten up expecting it to happen again! I think the best solution is time warming up, allow fore play to last a long time, maybe not having sex for the first few times. Then when you do get round to intercourse... very very slow, allow yourself to relax from your toes upwards. Also lubricate helps. It can take time but you need to make things go very very slow until you relax all your muscles. Try baths etc beforehand. Hope this helps a bit! tell the doctor up front about your problem and that you are nervous about the exam, they should be understanding. dont be surprised if your doctor does not know much about vaginismus or how to treat it. you may need to see more than one person or ask for a referral to someone who has a good deal of experience with this. vaginismus is not your everyday gyn problem and many docs have no clue what to do for it. does not mean they are bad doctors, it is just an uncommon condition and not seen very often please try not to worry about this as that will make the problem worse, and to put your mind at rest, it IS a common problem and your doctor will be of great help if you are honest. it is nearly always a psychological problem following events or deep rooted thoughts. i have had this problem since a painful smear test 4 years ago and i was honest with my practice nurse and she does relaxation techniques with me whenever i have examinations now. the problem is not there when i have sex with my partner which shows that it is an association thing. a friend of mine could not have sex with her husband for years and eventually went to counselling and her vaginismus was as a result of her guilt towards sex from her strict religious up bringing. they are fine now though!!!! like i said, be honest and ask for help otherwise worrying will only make things worse. your not the only one suffering as i think ive got the same problem but i'm too scared to do anything about it |
