Confusion on Vaginal Infections?

Hello, I am confused about the difference of a Vaginal Yeast Infection and Bacterial Vaginosis . I have read about the two at http://www.webmd.com and at http://www.intelihealth.com . From what I think I understand one has a cheesy like discharge and one has a creamy white or yellow discharge. While one has no pain like or irritation symptoms the other does... Now Im tryin to figure out what exactly I have and Im only confusing myself more. Maybe someone can help me?

My symptoms are getting to be not only painful but a hassle.

1. Redness and swollen
2. Itchy and burning
3. Tender to touch and painful to wipe after urination
4. Tends to "tear" when I wipe causing it to hurt more. (explanation: When I wipe the skin around (vulva) kind of tears, or rips slightly causing little cuts which bleed slightly) Making it nearly impossibly to clean myself.
5. A white creamy AND cottage cheese like discharge. Its kind of a mix. Mostly creamy but has small "chunks" yea I know..gross.

I know this is really gross and its embarassing but I cant get to an obgyn or doctor anytime soon. Im wondering what I have..yeast or vaginosis? I bought some over the counter meds called Yeast-Gard (pillls) which I take daily. Also I should mention I was taking Amoxicillian about a week ago.

Also I have been with same partner for 7 years, and we have both been tested for STDs, HIV/AIDS and Hep 6 months ago which came back negative for everything so I am clean in that department.

Grr.. this is just so frustrating and been takin these pills for 3 days now with no help.

Also I drink Soda mostly.. could that cause anything?

I am very experienced in both these things...sadly...and while some of your symptoms sound like yeast...the tearing doesnt sound like either and it actually concerns me quite a bit. That is not a symptom of either BV or yeast infections..

How long has this pain lasted? I know you said you couldnt go to the dr, but i think you really need to go..

I have vulvadynia, which is chronic vulva pain and the first 3 could be contributed to that, but not the bad smell or discharge. I wouldnt worry unless you have had this pain for 3 months or more.

Dont let me freak you out. but the cuts from toilet paper is definitly strange and ive never heard of that before. Good luck..feel better

PS. some women experience pain with BV, i do.

This sounds like you have a yeast infection. BV usually has a foul smelling discharge. With a yeast infection, you really wouldn't. But you sound like you have all the symptoms associated with a yeast infection. You can go to the doctor so they can get a swab of the area and look at it under a microscope, or you can treat your self with an over the counter medication. If you notice the over the counter med doesn't work, go see the doctor. It may be another type of vaginal infection. I hope this helps!

Sounds just like a yeast infection to me. I've had that before.

But if you haven't had a confirmed diagnosis of a yeast infection before, then please see your doctor for proper diagnosis.

Consuming too much sugar is definitely a cause of yeast infections (not to mention diabetes).

Girl you're as yeasty as the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
BV is nothing like what you've described. You'd notice a foul smell if you had BV along with a runny discharge.
Get to the drug store and get some Monistat (with the additional cream for irritation along with the product.)
Antibiotic treatments are notorious for causing yeast infections. You'll be better in about 3 days if you get the Monistat.

Sounds like you are suffering from S.U.I.T.

No not a lawsuit or clothes, S.U.I.T. is an acronym for SOMETHING UP IN THERE which is what you may be suffering from at this time. Somthing Up In There was the leading cause of death in women ages 14-80 so you might wanna go see a doc about that.
