Why do does my daughter keep getting repeated vaginal infections? She been tested, it's not an std.?

No matter how much you cleans she always has odor and discharge. Every couple of months she goes to the local health department and has another infection. She is not sexally active and has had numerous std test. All are negitive. We are just told she has an vaginal infection. Does anyone have an answer. She does not have regualr periods, her doctor said it was because of the infections why she is not regular. We can't get a strait answer and with no health insurance we don't know where to turn.

I have taken her to a OBGYN and they said nothing. Said she was young and would work itself out. No insurance is because of a dead beat real mother. she is my step daughter. My insurance will not pick her up due to this. I appreciate those willing to help not harrass us in our search for answers. I have used a "free" and women's clinic and they just prescribe somthing for a quick fix.

Could be several reasons and here are some:
Frequent douching
Nylon underwear-wear cotton
Wiping incorrectly
Antibiotics
Scented soaps, toilet paper,Tampons
Tight jeans
THONG underwear-Because there is a lack of material so to speak, bacteria from the anal area
tends to get into the vagina and cause infections.
This is usually the #1 cause in younger girls.

my sister had that problem as a teen, it finally was tracked down to the fact that she took frequent bubble baths, she was getting a reaction to the soap in the water and was getting yeast infections .

Most planned parenthood centers see teen agers and young adults free or on a sliding fee scale based on income so I recommend you take your daughter to one of them. They are for women's health, too, and not just birth control. I am wondering if she uses tampons. Sometimes, in some females, these can cause infections.

It is probably a virus, and she has to be care full about where she sits or if she tries on cloths from her friends.

Are they yeastie beasties? If they are then she's getting something sugary near her vagina and that's causing it. Actually basically with any infection she's getting, she's letting outside bacteria or something for bacteria to feed on near her vagina. I would make sure she's cleaning properly and if she uses tampons make sure they aren't getting contaminated by something. If she uses pads, make sure she doesn't leave her last one, the one where she's stopped bleeding and it's just finishing up, on for more than a day or two.

Not to be crude, but I would try to gently make sure too that she's not using something to masturbate with that she isn't cleaning properly beforehand and after.

Just look for outside causes.

Since she is not regular, I would have her checked for ovarian cysts also to be safe. That is if you haven't already.

Try suggesting to your doctor putting her on birth control for an amount of time and seeing if this affects it.

get responsible and get health insurance for your kids....if you can't afford kids, you shouldn't have had them...a REAL doctor can address these problems. How can you live knowing you aren't providing your daughter with a doctor when she needs one?????

It is probably caused by allergies or whatever you would call it. Many have to use Tide only, wear cotton undies, use unscented toilet paper, and much more. Don't you have a doctor that you can discuss this with? She needs good medical help.

Free clinics like community clinics still exist and a state-funded hospital cannot turn you away.

Anti-biotics can cause yeast infections so if she needs any always ask for some that don't have that side-affect, always wipe front to back, don't wash too much down there, wear cotton underwear because it breathes, and pantyliners are good if changed often throughout the day.

You should try to apply for Medicaid and get her to a board certified gyn. Go in with a list of questions, things you have tried/avoided, when she gets them, what medications have worked, etc... If she's at least 15 a part-time job might help cover some of the expense.

Finally, there may be some truth to the idea that eating yogurt will help. I'm undecided.

Odor and discharge don't always mean that there's an infection.

If there is an actual infection, the doctor should take a swab, and treat her based on the results.

Are you attending the doctor with her?
Are you sure she understands what is being said to her by the doctors?

If it is an infection, it needs to be treated.

If it's not an infection, start changing things one at a time to rule out possible causes.
Diet, laundry detergent, soap, toilet paper (unbleached, unscented) underwear fabric etc.
