I was wondering what causes vaginal infections?

This may sound totally gross but I get vaginal infections all the time. At least once every other month.
What happens is I get a milky colored, stinky discharge (a lot of it) It is so disgusting. I am very clean and I dont understand why I get these so often.
I know this is nastly but the discharge smells like garlic. Yuck!
Its really starting to make me not want to have sex because he notices.
Does it sound like maybe an std? Or do I have just a regular infection?

The doctors just say its an infection and give me meds but dont tell me how to make them stop reoccuring
Thanks for the help!

Vaginal infections are actually caused from a lack of the natural bacteria in your private area. Don't wash those areas with any soap at all! Your body just needs it's bacteria to regrow, even though it may seem gross to leave it smelly. Also eating alot of yogurt with live and active cultures can help.

soaps use to give it to me.

dirty peckers in ya to much...

If it is a yeast infection that is caused by a unbalanced bacteria level inside the vagina. Antibiotics can bring this on, also a boyfriend with dirty fingernails could do it, finally, if your boyfriend has this infection also, he can keep giving it back to you. Try wearing looser fitting underwear for a week or so. Looser clothing in general will help. Finally you must change your diet. Try to eat yogurt with live acidophiles in it. Also plain yogurt with live cultures can be inserted directly into the vagina. I know this sounds gross, but it works. A diluted vinegar mixture can be used as a douche also. This works because it creates an acidic environment that no bacteria can live in. They also sell a product named MYOSTAT. It's been around for a while. You can buy it over the counter. This stuff works also.

you can get an infection from many things you can get them from soaps, sex, douching, antibiotics basically anything try a hot salt bath i usually do that for a yeast infection but what could it hurt but when you do it you have to sit in the hottest water you can handle with 1 cup of salt and try to stay in there for about an hour, and you need to see another gynecologist they are supposed to help you with the problem not just give you pills and send you away you might have trich or bacterialvaginosis, also try wearing cotton panties and use a soap without dye.
