Vaginal infections and odd discharge and condom-less sex.?

i have had goldenish, smelly discharge for like a month and itching outside my vagina. no curdling though or painful urination.

also, when i had sex with my boyfriend, his penis was a little crusty and i know it must be related to this. and deeper in my vagina i had a few chunks of something.

i've looked online and i can't seem to find out what it is. everything else seems to include painful urination or (for yeast infections:) curdling and white/milkish discharge, which i don't have.

i recently had a plastic progestin IUD inserted in my uterus for birth control, i hope it isnt a side affect from that. i've always used condoms before him, since i recently got this inside of me, and i'm wondering if it could be related to some semen staying inside of me.

would buying a home yeast infection remedy from my local drugstore/grocer/walmart suffice to fix it? even though it may not be one?
i tried to douche for the first time and that helped the smell for a few days, but now its back.

without a clinical examination and given your description of symptoms and recent iud use, my first suspicion would be allergec reaction with no accompanying internal irritation. (i am assuming you would have mentioned persistent discomfort or pain) some type of contamination is also possible (fungal, bacterial, viral) but infections usually present with complaint of pain as well. your complaint of itching leads me to suspect some type of irritation.
you should get a physical examination by your primary care physician or a gynecologist. i would hold off on any over the counter treatment, including douching, until a doctor can physically examine you. most will also include baisc std testing as part of the exam.

You've let this go for a month?! Get to a genecologist ASAP. It could be anything.

the above problems may be becouse of either fungal(candida)or bactarial in origin,
it is btr if get this discharge cultured in a lab before starting treatment
