Can going in a jacuzzi cause vaginal infections like yeast or BV? |
I've been having recurrent BV and yeast for the past 2 months! I've just had some relieve and haven't had any BV/yeast for two weeks......I have not used a hot tub or a jacuzzi, but my friend's having a pool party and they have a jacuzzi....so I was wondering....can sitting in a jacuzzi cause a yeast/BV infection? I'm really paranoid! Use of public jacuzzi's or even ones that are private but poorly maintained, can lead to all sorts of problems, including yeast & BV. Yes, to the best of my knowledge, you can get a yeast infection from a jacuzzi. If you are worried, I would just avoid going in. There are a lot of germs in a jacuzzi & I know that I was told to avoid using a hot tub or jacuzzi when I HAD an infection...I would assume that you can transmit it to others this way due to the circulation of the water. If someone else in the jacuzzi has an infection, you could very well catch it & end up with another one yourself! Hot tubs are hot to help kill bacteria. In addition, if they are maintained and cleaned properly they should be okay. it depends on what was going on in said jacuzzi the night before I would recommend never setting foot in a hot tub. They are usually very poorly maintained, because it is hard to keep chlorine levels high in hot water. If the chlorine level is too low, it won't be effective. Hot tubs are basically a bacteria soup. |
