Is it normal to have any sort of vaginal infection if you arent sexually active?

Latley my vaginal area has sort of a fishy odor and just a little bit of an itch, I plan on seeing a gynoc. for it, but Im not sexually active, I havent been for about 3 years, I got a papsmear about 3-4 months ago and everything came back normal, I got my second gardisil shot about a week ago, so, I dont have HPV, Ive been tested for chylamedia/gonherrea a few times and never had it, and I dont have HIV/AIDs, although, Ive had a few vaginal infections before and a yeast infection before, but I dont know if I got it from sexual contact, I guess you can say Im probably a bit paraniod, but yeah, I havent had sex for 3 years so this odor/itch, is it common?

ALSO, I have an eating disorder, yeah I know I should stop, and I havent had a period about 3 years now, so could my eating disorder play a role in this too?

You DO NOT HAVE A YEAST INFECTION. Yeast infections do not have a fishy odor. Yeast infections smell like yeast. The symptoms you describe sound like a bacterial infection, most likely bacterial vaginosis.

Yes it is possible to have vaginal infections, even if you aren't sexually active. I had multiple yeast and bacterial infections. The gynecologist will prescribe some pills for you to take. It will clear up within a few days of taking the pills. I hope this helps and good luck!!!

Sounds like yeast infection which no you dont have to be sexual active.Usally a easy cure that women get. However also check with a doctor.

I agree, it does sound like a yeast infection. You don't have to be sexually active to get a yeast infection.

You have a yeast infection, you will need to see a dr. Don't worry you have not done anything wrong. These things happen. Good Luck

yes you can get yeast infections without having sex. It could come the types of bubble baths you take. My niece at the age of 9 got a yeast infection from taking too many bubble baths it is true! or the type of detergent you wash your underwear in could lead to a yeast infection. So Microwave your panties it will kill all bacteria

everyone has answered the yeast thing which i agree, however as a side note to the gardasil. Human papilloma virus is the name of a group of viruses that includes more than 100 different strains or types.
Gardasil It only protects against HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18. the most common ones to cause cancer and it also states it "As with all vaccines, GARDASIL may not fully protect everyone who gets the vaccine."

Yes, you probably have some type of yeast or bacterial infection. You don't have to be sexually active to get one. Yeast and bacteria tend to grow in moist areas. Another thing your eating disorder might have alot to do with it, since it does alot to your hormones, your immune system, and the way your body would normally function. You need to go see a doctor and let them know also about your eating disorder
