I had a vaginal infection and my doctor didnt tell me what caused it just give me medication?

my girlfriend claims it could be caused by my boyfriend being unfaithfull which he was but the time fraim which he was and my infection really doesn' add up to me any full detais on vaginal infections or where to check would definetly help

you never stated if it was a std are not. but if it's not a std it doesn't mean he was cheating on you you can get a VI from using femimine products are if you get to moist in your private area you need to go back and ask more questions to your doc.

I'm not totally sure what you're asking, but it seems to be a question of whether your vaginal infection could have been an STD.

If you and your boyfriend had unprotected sex (without condoms) and he had unprotected sex with the person that he cheated on you with, then yes, it is possible that you had an STD.

The best thing for you to do in this situation is ask the doctor for the name of the vaginal infection for which you were treated. If you don't know what it is you should ask the doctor to explain it to you.

This is important because if it was in fact an STD, your boyfriend will need to be treated (especially if you are still having sex with him) and because you will want to be tested for other possible STDs.

Lastly, it is also possible that you had a vaginal infection totally unrelated to any STD. That certainly happens sometimes. You would still need to know what caused the infection in order to be able to avoid them/treat them in the future.

Just as an FYI Bacterial Vaginosis is a common vaginal infection that is not considered to be an STD although having sex can lead to the infection. It is likely that a doctor would simply treat you for this infection without fully explaining what it is if you did not ask.

Below is a list of common vaginal infections/STDs. Good luck!
