Is vaginal thrush std related disease.?

Is vaginal thrush std related disease.?

Vaginal thrush, or more commonly called a yeast infection, is NOT a STD. Vaginal yeast infection is caused by an overgrowth of yeast organisms that normally live in small numbers in the vagina.

Yeast infections can be caused by a number of things like:

Using antibiotics.

Having high estrogen levels (hyperestrogenemia), such as during pregnancy, hormone replacement therapy (HRT or ERT) use, high-dose birth control pill use, and the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle.

Having diabetes, especially if your blood sugars are not well controlled and tend to be high.

Having an impaired immune system.

Using corticosteroids, such as prednisone.

Being overweight.

Having the genital area exposed to moisture for a long period of time (for example, wearing a wet bathing suit all day) or living in a warm, humid climate.

Using an intrauterine device (IUD).

Having a sex partner with symptoms of yeast infection (very rare).

Take care!

No.

Definitely No. It's a fungus condition not a viral or bacterial. It can appear without any sexual contact what so ever.

In simple terms no. It is a fungal infection. It also smells like yeast. That is why it is called a yeast infection.

Not necessarily but a man can have thrush with no symptoms so can pass it to his partner

Usually occurs after antibiotics or during pregnancy, but you can transfer this back and forth to a partner-my ex is a surgeon and claims I gave it to him!! Told him a thing or two!! he was the one who put me on antibiotics in the first place!!

It is a bacterial infection but it can be passed onto your partner through sexual contact. If you have it then you should abstain or wear condoms until it has cleared up.

No love. I remember when I used to suffer it in my teens and a doctor told me that "even nuns get thrush", so that I wouldn't be embarrassed or think he thought badly of me or whatever. (Now that is assuming all nuns are pure and virginal I suppose)

Nope, not really, it's all to do with yeast and bacteria produced by our own bodies... some say if you eat lots of sugary things it wont help?! You can also get it in the mouth as a side effect of medication! If you do have it, it is wise to get him to wear a condom, thats if you could even want sex at the same time! Natural yogurt helps calm the area wash undies at 60 to kill the bacteria! You can buy treatment in shops and chemist now!
