I've had a conraceptive coil for 5 years+.. can this be causing my vaginal bleeding/spotting? |
I'm 50, haven't had my period for one/two years. I've had many of the menopausal symptoms, including joint pain, depression, abdominal pain, sudden bloating etc I'm assuming you have the 10-year IUD. Right? I'm wondering if you're beginning menopause, and if so, if the coil is still your best birth control option. Menopause can cause irregular bleeding at first. Your doctor wants to look you over before making any assumptions. I hope she'll be able to tell you what's happening! It could be the IUD is supposed to be removed at the end of the 5th year going over that may cause some problems. Don't worry yourself over the spotting until you see your doctor it could nothing. Menorrhagia can occur from imbalance of hormones in menopause. A contraceptive coil(IUD) can also irritate the lining of the womb causing bleeding. If you are into menopause , there is no need for a contraceptive coil so have it removed especially since it has been there for 5 years. |
