Itching in the vaginal area during menstrual period what could be wrong?

My period was 9 days late and then out of no where finally came on and about the 2nd day into my period I began experiencing some itching in the vaginal area. Is very uncomfortable it seems like everytime I become moist in that area it itches ungodly. What do you think is the problem? be sure to examine the lateness of my period as well!! I am in a monogomous relationship on my end???? I dont want to even think of a sexually transmitted disease so tell me what you guys think about this?

Possible yeast infection or bacteria vaginosis . . . neither are considered an STD and both can cause intense itching/burning. Your late period could be to stress from the holidays? Best to check with your OBGYN.

Yeast infection, go get some meds from the doctor.

It could be the pads you are using. Try something that is not bleached and has a more cottony texture unlike always which almost feel like nylon. Alot of women are sensitive to pad or tampons and it is most likely that they are bleached.

it could just be a yeast infection.

Could still be a yeast infection because the vaginal ph can get really messed up during your period. Go to CVS or a Walgreens and ask the pharmacist if you an use an over the counter product while mestruating. From what I remember you can.
Good luck. Soaking in warm bath water with a few tablespoons of baking soda added to water helps with the itchies but you still need the meds

The lateness of your period makes me think its a hormonal thing. Sometimes hormones can cause an imbalance in our bodies, which allow yeast to overgrow. Refined starches and especially sugar will make the itching worse, and cause more yeast to grow in our bodies. At that time of the month, try not to listen to your cravings that tell you to eat all that sugar and chocolate. Try to stay away from sugar and breads during that time of the month. I guarantee your itching will go away.

Please please please do not use over the counter yeast infection medicine without getting a diagnosis from a doctor. The monistat and other medicines can heal the problem for a month or so, but make it come back 10 times worse. Also antibiotics can make it worse.

Sounds like ALL the signs of a yeast infection. Periods can be late for no reason at all-all that happened is something threw your body chemistry off which resulted in both a late period and a yeast infection.

Over the counter treatments help, but always see your doctor if you're freaked out.

you need to call your dr. and get checked out. that way you will no and you dont have to worry your self wondering.

I think...see a doctor right away!

yeast infection. my opion?

yeast infection alot of people get them during that time of the month because it moist down there try a over the counter med

sounds like you got a case of the maggots
