Vaginal discharge: normal?

I have a daily discharge that's a whitish color and I'm paranoid that I have some sort of disease. Please don't recommend me to go to a doctor- I'm not yet at that kind of comfort level nor do I have the money to be spending to go to the doctor about something that might just be paranoia. I have read other questions that say it's normal but I just want to make sure?

Olivia: I'm not old enough to buy over-the-counter yeast infection items and it's too embarrassing to talk about with my father (I haven't talked to my mother in years) but I'll research the other side effects, thanks :)

No it is not normal to have a discharge everyday. If you are sexually active, you should definately see a physician or go to Planned Parenthood ASAP. Chlamydia is a very subtle infection and many women never know they have it. Unfortunately, both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can scar your falloian tubes and cause sterility. GC tends to have a thick yellowish-white snotty looking discharge. It itches and has a foul odor.

Bacterial vaginosis is an infection that can be caused by use of bubble baths, douching, using nylon underwear. It requires a prescription. It will not cause any long term damage.

You didn't mention if there was a bad smell or itching. These are not normal and are definite signs of an infection that require prompt attention or could cause long term problems. If you are sexually active, you definately need to be examined.

Yeast infections usually look like cottage cheese but not always. Causes severe itching. Can be cured by over the counter meds. I don't know where you live, but to my knowledge there is no age limit for buying the over counter medications. I would try these first-Gyne-Lotrimin, Monistat and many others.

Some birth control pills tend to cause yeast infections. This often occurs also after or while taking antibiotics.
Will itch.

A thin, white, milky discharge is normal at certain times of the month-I think it is about a week before your period-my mind has forgotten for sure.

Trichomnas tends to have a greenish discharge. It itches and has foul odor.

Very normal.

well it depends on if you have other symtoms.. It could be a yeast infection. Which they sell over the counter drugs for/

I have had (and still do) vaginal discharge of that color, and I have been to the Dr, they said it was nothing to worry about.

normal

Well. First of all, you must know that not all the vaginal discharges are bad. For example, when you are menstruating, the mucous of the vagina becomes thick and seems to be a little bit white, and this must be normal.
The important thing for any vaginal discharge that can be abnormal is:
1.Bad odor 2.assoc with itching 3. every day.
I hope this help... :) Bye..

Well the vagina naturally cleanses itself.

Discharge is normal if you tend to 'lubricate' easily under the right circumstances. Otherwise, you could be carrying a subclinical infection which is missed 90% of the time and blamed as an 'yeast infection'. Yeast infections do not occur in healthy people, period. Yeast is an opportunistic organism and only makes a home at a place where the conditions are right for it to do so.
And, the conditions are right whenever the integrity of the mucous membranes of the area in question become compromised. The big question is what causes this to happen? Well, it's usually caused by an undetected STD which cannot be grown or identified in a normal lab setting. It takes a $400.00 PCR test to prove its presence, so it's not going to happen.
The organisms responsible belong to the family of nanobacterias, which cause everything from ectopic pregnancies, infertility, kidney stones and Rheumatoid arthritis to atherosclerosis.
The bad news is that it's considered to be a 'silent' and subtle infection. The good news is that it's treatable and responds well to 'long term' bacteriostatic antibiotic therapy. Should an yeast infection also have been present for awhile, it should be treated concomitantly with an oral antifungal preparation like fluconazole: 200 mg/wk for 12/52. Terconazole cream should be applied topically daily as well to deal with any localized discomfort such as itching etc.
Keep in mind that these nanobacterial organisms require a longer treatment protocol that normal bacteria do. And, taking just a few tablets of the antifungal only clears it up temporarily.
Furthermore, to prevent possible complications with Pseudomembranous colitis, it's a good idea to take daily oral probiotics during the course of the therapy.
Here are some stats for you: 50% of people who have had sex with more that one partner have picked up an STD and most of them don't even know it. Recently, since the discovery of these 'nanobacterias', it's been found that they're responsible for a lot of different, previously unknown problems. Keep that in mind.

Vaginal discharge is absolutely very normal. If it has a foul odor or any other symptoms, like itching or burning, then it may be something else. It is not necessarily an STD. The ph level in a woman's vagina can be easily disrupted causing all sorts of weird things to happen. It could be a yeast infection or a bacterial infection. More than likely what you are having is just normal discharge. No need to worry.
