Any remedies for vaginal itching? Is this even normal?

- For some odd reason, I only experience it before i sleep
- I've been using betadine feminine wash for the past two days. And there have been no signs of improvement
- I don't feel pain when I urinate
- Can this be a symptom for a disease?

- oh yeah. the feminine wash was supposed to treat the itching.

It could be a yeast infection, they love to flare up at night.
Stop using the feminie wash--you are disrupting the natural balance of bacteria in your privates! Try some diluted vinegar (like 10%) and start eating yogurt everyday, about a cup. Also, sleep withotu underwear--it gets air to the area and helps a lot.
Go to the GYN, who will test you for yeast--the treatment is very easy, but if you've never had a yeast infection before I wouldn't self-diagnose it.

Believe it or not it's the best thing I ever did. Being pregnant with diabetes makes me a lovely place for yeast, so commando is something I recommend a lot! Report It

just keep rubbing it till the pain goes away

I dont know if you eat it or put it on your vaginal but there is something of one of the cultures in yogurt that helps with vaginal problems.

Actually, that feminine wash could be irritating your vaginal area, or you could have a yeast infection. Try buying monistat or vagistat icthing creams. Or use vaseline to help. Try wearing different underwear, maybe the fabric is irritating. =]

Actually it can be a disease. Some sexual diseases have the symptoms. Also, you may have an infection of the non-sexual kind or an allergy for something. Do see a doctor! It could be something serious.

Okay ~ first I'm sorry. I understand about this kind of stuff, because I've been there and done it.

I'm wondering if it is wise for you to be using the feminine wash, they sometimes contain fragances and chemicals that only further irritate that very delicate skin. They can also be too drying on the delicate skin too....

Which brings me to my next question? Have you been using anything, and I mean ANYTHING new to wash with, do laundry with etc...that may be perfumed, or have dyes or additives in it that you could be allergic to? I'm allergic to EVERYTHING that turned out to be the cause of my problem.

My next question would be have you researched something called vulvodynia? Although being that you say you have no pain when you urinate - it makes me doubt that this could be the culprt. This condition, involves the kidneys - the oxalate in our urine that is a normal result of our food being digested is not broken down enough, so it leaves microscopic shards of oxolate in our urine, causing intense burning and pain.

For your current problem - I would recommend that you switch from using the feminine wash to using Vagisil - it's a cream for vaginal itching. It will provide temporary relief. Or you could try using a product called Vaginal RePHresh. This product is a gel-like substance that is put up inside the vagina and it's main purpose is to simply re-establish the delicate PH balance that is supposed to be in our vaginas normally. Sometimes when that balance gets out of whack it can cause itching.

If the itching persists I think you will need to see your doctor. It's possible you could have a yeast infection, for which you will need either an over the counter yeast infection treatment, or your doctor may prescribe Diflucan for you. Yogurt is good natural help if you have a yeast infection, eat that in conjuction with whatever the doctor prescribes for you.

Either way you go - good luck! I wish you all the best! I hope that you feel better soon!
