Can you catch an sti from this?

A guy going down on a girl. Can you contract herpes? Or is it just coldsores? My friends boyfriend wanted to go down on her but she was scared because she didnt want him to catch an sti. They both havent had oral or sex in general with anyone before so its both their first times theyve thought seriously about 'doing stuff' with someone. I wasnt sure what advice to give to my friend- whether to tell her to let him do it or not because i thought vaginal fluid contained bacteria that can spread disease?

Look every things fine "to go down as u put it" if both girl and guy have not been sexually active.

As long as either have no cold sores on mouth as this can lead to cross infection from Type 1 to Type 2 being genital herpes if either person were to contact genital area of partner..

Just pays tho to make sure washed at least to save any other nasties, like anything good hygiene is most necessary and goes without saying wearing of condoms is paramount..鈾?/div>

you can indeed get STD's from oral sex (man going down on a women or women going down on a man) you can also get them from intercourse just as easily BUT she would have to have one to give it to her boyfriend or he would have to have one to give it to her

you can get tested for them

PS. Cold sores ARE herpes

There's oral herpes, a cold sore, and genital herpes--a whole other animal.

Since they haven't had sex or it sounds like "fooled around" with anyone, it may be safe.

However, it IS possible for genital herpes to be transferred to another person's facial area. For example, parent to child--a co-worker of mine was having an affair and contracted genital herpes. Somehow her husband didn't catch it, but she did pass it on to her son via an innocent kiss to his face. That set everybody's tongues a-wagging, no pun intended.

Unless they have serious questions about their parents' being faithful to each other, then I'd say absolutely no worries, they're both in the clear considering their "virgin" sexual histories.

So, I would be inclined to say that it is POSSIBLE (a big possible, but not very likely) that herpes has been contracted by one of them already, such as in my co-worker's situation, but I do suspect that this is rather rare or infrequent; otherwise, there'd be widespread panic about these kinds of situations and we'd all know/hear about it.

The media, which loves a good frightening story, would likely never let us forget it if this were a problem of any significance. Herpes has been around quite a while now in a big way, and that public discussion/media exposure hasn't really materialized as regards social kissing.

Besides abstinence from all sexual behavior, a very good way to protect themselves is to use condoms on him and dental dams especially on her. Dental dams are small, square pieces of latex that you put between his mouth and her vagina. They're not particularly expensive and you can get them at Planned Parenthood who can also show/demonstrate how both are properly used. You can also get them in sex shops.

I virtually see no problem with going down on a women that have little or no experience with that type of activity. I feel after reading what you are saying, that the worst analogy for it, is that you may have a piece of pubic hair floss stuck between your teeth.

as long as they are both clean, no problem. but advice is practice safe sex, just to make sure.

Yes sweet heart, were theres an opening theres a way
