Vaginal cancer. Help !? |
My mother-in-law's sister, around 60, got a radiotherapy 8 months back and last week on her follow-up, found to be more serious condition, i.e., on a further stage, stage 3. Now they have given two alternatives critically, one undergoing an expensive operation in a foreign city or using chemotherapy with the pretext that not either one could be guarranted for long effects. We are in dillemma. What to do? Matter of fact, money is another problem in her family, having three unmarried daughters from her late husband. Vaginal cancer is usually a squamous cell carcinoma, most often occurring in women > 60. The most common symptom is abnormal vaginal bleeding. Diagnosis is by biopsy. Treatment for many small localized cancers is hysterectomy plus vaginectomy and lymph node dissection; radiation therapy is used for most others. try healthywomen.org, cancer.gov to help u out |
