Anyone who had hysterectomy to resolve cervical cancer?

I am 30 years old and in May I had to have a hysterectomy to resolve cervical cancer. I guess I want to know if anyone has had to deal with the same issues. I got to keep my ovaries but now i am wondering how they would be able to tell if I start having trouble with them before it's too late? I don't go back till May for a "Year of Clear" and I was just wanting some answers before then. And if any one knows what the chances are of getting cancer in the vaginal walls after cervical cancer? Thanks in advance.

Well my mum had a hysterectomy and she seems to ok. But basically just keep up with the pap smears. I had cervical cancer myself but i only had to have it removed from the vaginal wall, so nothing else was removed, i still go for pap smears ever 6 months, after this next one i wont have to have one for a year and then another year, unless it comes back. But if your that worried just keep going in for a regular pap, they find these things pretty quick. Just tell them exactly what your worried about and they will test for it. good luck i hope it goes well for you. I know it is a strain, but you will get through, dont smoke or anything like that it increases your chances or getting another cancer type once you have had one type.
