Could I be having cervical cancer?

I'm 18 turning 19 this yr; I've had irregular pds since my teenyrs, so I think I might be going through (pre)menopause, which I think could lead to cervical cancer; I have abnormal bleeding between menstrual pds, unusual vaginal discharge, & minor pelvic pains. I'm a virgin & I never smoked. I'm afraid to go to the doctor because of the fear of the horrific reality I might have to face at such a young age. On the other hand, I don't want to go through a painful death. I plan on telling my mother soon to get a checkup, which I have avoided for a while because of finals, but I still need other advice. Thanks.

I've also had chest pains, shortness of breath, & left arm pain, that I think resulted from a poor diet.

SEE YOUR DOCTOR. It's better to know what's going on than not to know, and I suspect that your problems aren't anywhere near as bad as you think they might be. No matter what, if you are never diagnosed, you can never be treated for any problem, and that only makes matters worse, much, much worse.

The only thing that counts here is your health.

YOU HAVE TO AND I MEAN HAVE TO GO TO THE DOCTOR ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely go to the doctor!
It is NOT NORMAL for that to be happening. Schedule a checkup with your ob-gyn ASAP.

There are lots of things which could be causing your trouble... there is a syndrome called PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) which isn't a deadly disease but can cause the kinds of things that you are experiencing.

That is just one thing that it could be... only a doctor would know what else could be going on. And, I don't think that cervical cancer is caused by menopause... I might be wrong...

It's not likely that it is as serious as cancer, but you can have a hormonal imbalance which makes you have irregular or no menses. I have abnormal ovulation, experience very irregular menses (2 weeks apart at times), increased discharge and pelvic pain which feels worse than hard labor.

I went to the doctor first time in March, after 8 months of this all-of-a-sudden problem that started in August last year, and he ran bloodwork to test for everything. My FSH and LH levels came back abnormal, which in my case means I ovulate irrugularly, if it all sometimes. Almost all the symptoms I had also could have lead to be believe I had cervical cancer, but you cannot self diagnose yourself.

Whatever your body is going through, it can more than likely be easily treated. Probably with birth control pills. I highly doubt it is menopause, but anything is possible I guess. Whatever is going on, it is not normal and you need to make an appointment to see a gynocologist. Do not be scared of what it can possibly be until you find out for sure, you will worry yourself until you go insane, literally.

Good luck and I'm sure everything will be fine. :)

Hi, i found two points of interest for you:

1. irregular periods are generally an indication of hormonal imbalance, not necessarily related to menopause. Strictly speaking, women aren鈥檛 considered menopausal until they have gone for one year without a menstrual period.

and 2. Cervical cancer is caused by several types of a virus called human papillomaviruses (HPV). The virus spreads through sexual contact. Most women's bodies are able to fight HPV infection. But sometimes the virus leads to cancer. You're at higher risk if you smoke, have many children, use birth control pills for a long time, or have HIV infection.

As far as the "unusual" discharge - these can actaully be perfectly normal signs of the change in your fertility during your cycle. Changes can be from an 'egg white' type discharge which can indicate you're ovulating, to a "gummy" kind just before the period. Documenting these changes allowed me to time intercourse and produce two lovely children.

I think getting to see your Dr as soon as your can, for your own peace of mind is the best thing to do from here.

you REALLY need to go to a doctor. and not because you are ill. Because you dont know much at all about your body and disease and you are driving yourself nuts. if you are a virgin, how do you suppose you are going to get cervical cancer which is caused by a sexually transmitted disease????? read a book about your body, look on the internet or go see a doctor

Forget the sexual part of the question ---- the chest pain is WAY too important to let go by! That SHOULD have been the FIRST part of the question! If your heart won't beat, not much else will matter, will it?
