Is it bad for you to get the varicella vaccination if you already had chicken pox?

My parents can't quite remember whether i've had the chicken pox or not. I was born in another country so it wasn't recorded. Now i'll be working with kids in a health field for several months so a varicella vaccination is recommended and i don't know whether i've had it or not. Would a varicella vaccination be harmful if i've already had the chicken pox? Serious answers please! Thank you!

it wont harm you. but if you had varicella before, the vaccine will not be of much help because you already acquired immunity from your previous infection

I would think that if you had the chicken pox then it might give you shingles.
