Is it the right time to get vaccination for chicken pox? |
I've never had chicken pox as a child and now I'm in high school and still never got it. I'm worried because I hear that when you're older, the chicken pox is far more worse and could be fatal and I really don't want that. I got a blood test a couple of weeks ago. This is a good time to talk to your doctor. Your Dr. will do a quick test to see if you are immune to this disease or not. They should not just vaccinate you without the test. The test is a quick blood test. At best, this vaccine only offers protection for 10 years and it is not very effective. One family we know had all three children vaccinated against chicken pox, and shortly after they all contracted the disease anyway. Another child we know received the vaccine and now has shingles, a painful skin condition related to chicken pox. The risk involved with vaccinations is usually not discussed. There are a growing number of families choosing not to vaccinate their children at all... and our kids are perfectly healthy. Hello, Yes it is true that chicken pox can be more devestating if you catch it as an adult, or perhaps teen. However i think if you researched how many people have died from chicken pox it would be very little, and i doubt that it would be the sole cause of death. Chicken pox is a relatively "safe" thing to get, i think the major concern is with the inner ear and possible permanent damage but that is usually with younger kids, say under 2 years old. There are so many vaccines out there it is scary. I am not anti vaccine, however i do not believe in vaccinating against things which are not causes of severe bodily damage. And please keep in mind, that Doctors are paid to vaccinate. So if you are wanting to find unbiast info it is best to research yourself and become educated from people who will not gain from convincing you one way or another. Unless you have a rare family medico who is looking after your best interest. |
