Dec. 6, 2002 ; Dec. 07, 2003 ; Dec. 12, 2004 ; Dec. 30, 2005 ; Dec. 29, 2006 ; Dec. 28, 2007. On Dec. 28, 2007 after given our dog an anti rabies vaccination my father was bite on his left wrist hand. I would like to ask if it is posiible that my father was infected by rabies even our dog are given a yearly anti rabies vaccination? last night jan. 23, 2008 he complain that he had a headache and neck pain. No it is not posible if the Dog has got all his vaccinations regularly. Maybe he got another disease from the dog. Anyway better to check and make blood tests, for the safety of your father. Rabies is a very dangerous disease and can cause sudden death if not treated early as the first few days. A doctor would give him a series of antibiotic injections and antirabies vaccines, but depending on the history of your dog it is unlikely. The best thing you do is Check your dog for Rabies in a veterinarian clinic , if the dog didn't have it then you can surely confirm that your father didn't acquire the rabies. Is your dog displaying symptoms of rabies? If you dog is not displaying any symptoms, then I don't see how your father would have contracted rabies.
I'd say that it is probably just a coincidence. I don't know where you live, but during the winter when it is cold it is definitely cold and flu season so he is probably just coming down with something. If the symptoms persist or get worse make sure to call the doc asap to set up an appointment. I think it is unlikely that your dad has rabies but I never say never. Unless you live in a rural area and your dog has access to wild animals and rodents, The vaccinations are supposed to protect your dog from rabies even if he is exposed. So, again....not very likely. he probable jerked away from the dog and his neck was injured that way, it is unlikely he has rabies if your dog has had a rabies shot in Dec of 2007. |
