You need to check with your doctor.

Who told you that?
The doctor should choose the actions if this is the diagnosis. That has nothing to do with sex because it's a sort of thickening of uterine walls: it's curable but it can give you some very heavy periods.
Consult a doctor without shame and do somethin before it gets worse and you need surgical attention.
Take a great care of yourself!

go to your ob/gyn- they may do an ultrasound to see if this is the case after they do the poking and pushing on your abdomen area. Last year about this time, I was diagnosed as having Fibroids too. My periods are very erratic, very long, and very heavy- all signs of fibroids....my mother had them and had a hyst. at the age of 44, I'm only 34...so I have a feeling that may be a sign for me...From what I understand they are very common, they are caused by the hormone Estrogen (I believe) and unless the fibroids are larger that 8-10 cm they will not do too much unless they are really bothersome to the woman. If you have any concerns about this, call your ob/gyn. ;o)

Uterine fibroids? Wow! It sounds like something from outer space.

How do you even know the words? Careful. Sometimes when people read about diseases then they start imagining they have the disease themselves.

The best answer will come from a doctor who examines you, not from some jerk in Yahoo Answers. ^_^

A fibroid is a tumor that grows on or around the uterus or ovaries. Usually they are not cancerous, but sometimes they are. They can grow very fast and make you look pregnant! Best to have any fibroid out just because they are so painful later on, and can even interfere with getting pregnant.
When they are small, the surgery is very small as it is done with a laprascope in tiny incisions.
If the tumor is larger, you will need a regular surgery.
But not to worry . It's done every day.
See a gynecologist and good luck to you!!

No, sorry, but you are probably just becoming fat.

You can't diagnose uterine fibroids visually like that. Fibroids are benign tumors of the uterine wall. They can be large enough to enlarge your stomach or they can be quite small. Only a vaginal ultrasound can effectively diagnose fibroids.

As for your tummy getting "bigger" that could be due to any number of things besides fibroids. One issue is that if you are just coming into adulthood, your uterus tends to make your belly look soft and rounded, even if you are in good shape. Many other things can make your belly larger, some benign and some not so benign.

You should see a doctor on a yearly basis no matter what your sexual history or health concerns are. But it is best to go armed with good information: start by recording the length and duration of your periods and what products you use (junior tampon or overnight pad?), any pain you experience. Also take some time to list any questions you have like this.
