I'm 39 and have large uterine fibroids. My OB/GYN says I need a hysterectomy. Any natural ways to cure this?

I also have large fibroids but refused to have a hysterectomy.
They rarely caused me trouble, sometimes a little excessive bleeding during menstrual periods. You have a choice -- it's not your doctor's decision. Please be aware that for some women, a hysterectomy adversely effects their sexual response.

There is no natural way,u got 2 have the surgery

How are they treated?

If your fibroids are not bothering you, you do not need to do anything about them. Your doctor will check them during your regular visits to see if they have gotten bigger.

If your main symptoms are pain and heavy bleeding, try an over-the-counter pain medicine like ibuprofen, and ask your doctor about birth control pills. These can help you feel better and make your periods lighter. If you have anemia, take iron pills and eat foods that are high in iron, like meats, beans, and leafy green vegetables.

If your symptoms bother you a lot, you may want to think about surgery. Most of the time fibroids grow slowly, so you can take time to consider your choices.

There are two main types of surgery for fibroids. Which is better for you depends on how big your fibroids are, where they are, and whether you want to have children.

* Surgery to take out the fibroids is called myomectomy. Your doctor may suggest it if you hope to get pregnant or just want to keep your uterus. It may improve your chances of having a baby. But it only works if your fibroids are small, and they may grow back.
* Surgery to take out your uterus is called hysterectomy. This is the most common surgery for fibroids. And it is the only way to make sure that fibroids will not come back. Your symptoms will go away, but you will not be able to get pregnant.

It is normal to have mixed feelings about hysterectomy. Some women are sad to lose part of what makes them a woman. Other women just want their symptoms to go away. If you are thinking about hysterectomy, learn all you can about it. This will help you make the choice that is right for you.

There are a number of other ways to treat fibroids. One newer treatment is called uterine fibroid embolization. It can shrink fibroids. It may be a choice if you do not want to have children but want to keep your uterus. It is not a surgery, so you feel better soon. But fibroids may grow back.

If you are near menopause, you might try medicines to treat your symptoms. Heavy periods will stop after menopause.

**ALWAYS REMEMBER TO GET MULTIPLE OPINIONS FROM DIFFERENT DOCTORS BEFORE YOU AGREE TO SURGERY**

HELLO,
I'M SORRY TO READ ABOUT THE BAD NEWS OF YOUR HEALTH.
MY MOTHER HAD A LARGE FIBROID, ABOUT THE SIZE OF AN ORANGE, THAT WOULD CONTINUALLY CAUSE HER BLEEDING.
THE HYSTERECTOMY SHE HAD WAS THE WISEST CHOICE FOR HER.
IF YOUR OB/GYN FOUND NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE, THEN THIS MAY BE A SMART DECISION FOR YOU.

I would try (XanGo) mangosteen whole fruit puree first, before scheduling surgery...there have been amazing results in many areas of life threatening diseases and illnesses with this fruit...I have seen cancer recoveries with people I know personally...I drink it every day and I was able to quit all my meds (for blood pressure, thyroid and life-threatening allergies) within the first 4 days, that was July 1, 2005, haven't needed any meds to this day and absolutely no symptoms have returned...others have taken longer than me to see results but everyone sees results on some level...go to this website and get some info on it, then you decide: http://X1.NaturesWellnessSecret.com
I would start with at least 8 oz or more a day to begin with, till your dr says the fibroids are disappearing (there is no toxicity level and no age restriction...it's a fruit, nothing else...it can't hurt you...the rind of this fruit natually contains high amounts of xanthones in it that do amazing things on a cellular level...and it tastes great! and I have tasted some nasty things before in the name of health, I assure you) I would give it up to 3 months, provided the wait will not jeopardize your health otherwise, while you try this out, then you can always opt for the surgery (and many people who have gone into surgery after drinking mangosteen have reported healing from the surgery quicker)...I would give this natural remedy a chance first, before opting for surgery...email me for more websites to go for more info...

There are alternatives to hysterectomy. The one I know of is called uterine embolization, many doctors are against this but it's a safe alternative for some people. Try asking your doctor about this or getting a second opinion about a doctor that performs this.

Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a new way of treating fibroid tumors of the uterus. Fibroid tumors, also known as myomas, are masses of fibrous and muscle tissue in the uterine wall which are benign, but which may cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pain in the pelvic region, or pressure on the bladder or bowel. With angiographic methods similar to those used in heart catheterization, a catheter is placed in each of the two uterine arteries and small particles are injected to block the arterial branches that supply blood to the fibroids. The fibroid tissue dies, the masses shrink, and in most cases symptoms are relieved. Uterine fibroid embolization, done under local anesthesia, is much less invasive than open surgery done to remove uterine fibroids. The procedure is performed by an experienced interventional radiologist, a physician specially trained to perform uterine fibroid embolization and similar procedures.

Sure there are natural ways...

Here's a link from a leading natural health guy that's related to uterine fibroids I thought you may enjoy. He's written many books...I have a few.

http://www.curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=...

If you've never been to curezone.com, I would encourage you to do a search for uterine fibroids...because the majority I saw were people saying they had the doctor recommended surgery and the fibriods CAME BACK!!! EKKK!!!

Here is another slant I want to share from curezone.com....the iodine supplementation forum....I see a ND now and he has me on Iodoral (iodine) which dissolves breast tumors and ovarian cysts (why I take it) and I wondered if there was anything in there for you...here's what I found...yes, it does help fibriods! This post is from a FANTASTIC site (where I buy my iodoral) and they have great research too...http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=9059... and here's the site www.breastcancerchoices.org

Keep reading, keep learning and never give up...trust your intuition!! :) There are natural alternatives for everything...most people CHOOSE to not participate in learning about them.

You are smart of have all the options in front of you before you make a decision. Go for it!
