Can you still have uterine cancer if your ultrasound didn't show anything??

I went to see my gyno and I only have my uterus and cervix! I have been haing abnormal bleeding and I am in pain! He did a biopsy the results come monday! His look on his face wasn't good! I had my ultrasound done they did it vaginaly and the prboe hurt so bad. So they did it with the gel on my tummy!They didn't see any cysts or anyting on my uterus! I also found out that I have a cyst on my pitutatary glad! Yeah I am a mess!

Yes, you could still have uterine cancer. If it has not been ruled out you may need to have more tests.

Diagnostic testing is only one tool used to locate cancer. Different types of diagnostic tools work better on some cancers than on others. Size of the tumors may also factor in. Very small nodules and tumors can be almost impossible to detect.

I am not sure which diagnostic tool is best used for uterine cancer, probably a CT (Computed Tomography) . . is that what you had? But, even a CT may not pick up all cancer.

Another diagnostic test used to detect cancer is a PET scan (Positron emission tomography)

Once its established that you have a cancer the PET scan is helpful in keeping track of it during treatments. Its often used in combination with the CT to give a clearer picture of what is going on inside the body.

Another useful diagnostic test is the MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) which can provide more detail in specific locations, such as the liver or an extremity.

My son has a rare sarcoma in the abdomen. It predominately strikes boys and young adults, but when on occasion a female has it than it presents as uterine sarcoma. My son had an MRI on his liver last week that showed a spot, at first we feared more cancer but the oncologist finally confirmed that he just had a fluid filled cyst.

So, think positive! Be strong.

Quite possibily you can have UTERINE CANCER and the symptoms tell that. Ultrasound may not give the correct picture always and some cancers go undetected by Ultrasound.

I think your Doctor should have done a CYSTOSCOPY. It is done to diagnose urethral cancer, a physician will examine the patient physically for any lumps. A urinalysis may also be done to check for the microscopic presence of blood and to check for infection. Patients may need to have a cystoscopy, which will allow the physician to see inside the urethra. In adults, the procedure is usually done under local anesthesia, which means that the area around the urethral opening is injected with an anesthetic. The cystoscope, which is a long, flexible tube made of plastic or metal, is inserted through the urethra. The tube has a lens and a fiberoptic light that allows the physician to examine the area through a scope.

A CT Scan may also tell you the exact position.

You say your doctor has done a biopsy. Please wait for the biopsy result. On getting the result further course of treatments can be done, and if need be please consult a Surgical oncologist to have them.

Anyway you should not leave it untreated as CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA. At the same time please donot loose heart and by sheer willpower you can overcome the situation and be alright. Best of luck..

Try Vitamin C therapy. A few years ago a cancer researcher came out with a paper saying that the best cancer and infection fighter as yet found was Interferon, but, at the time, it cost $15,000 a gram.
