Uterus Cancer?

Has anyone heard of a way of treatment for uterine cancer was freezing the uterus to rid it of Cancer? I met someone who said she has a friend who had that done to her. Anyone else?

Lolly you are going to be a wonderful nurse good for you. Good luck.

yes, they can freeze it. It is a fancy word that starts with a c. But Ive only heard of it being done for cervical cancer, not uterine. Freezing is fairly common, but If you are thinking about getting it done, I would ask for the LEEP procedure instead. With this procedure they slice the cancer out with a little loop. It doesn't hurt because they numb it. I say this because sometimes the freezing doesn't get all of the cancerous cells, and when it heals the cells can be different. Your cervix is kind of like a doughnut. The cells on the bottom are flat and square (aka squamous epithelium) and the cells on the inside surface are tall and rectangular (Simple columnar epithelium). When the freezing heals, sometimes the squamous cells grow up into the inside surface of the cervix, causing a recurrence of cancer cells to be difficult to identify. Thats bad news if they didn't get them all. But with the LEEP or loop procedure, the cervix heals normally. Theres also a lazer procedure, but I think it is expensive, and most clinics don't have that equiptment.
