Can anyone recommend a special diet for 3rd stage cancer? |
this is for uterine cancer I have stage 3 uterine cancer and I can only tell you what works for ME. I'm not sure if you are asking for a curative diet or just nutritionally. Luckily my chemo doesn;t make me actually throw up, but I do get nausea at times. I try to eat lots of protein rich foods (chicken, fish, beef, peanut butter etc). I was actually advised against many raw fruits/vegetables unless they can be peeled. The fear being e-coli or other bacteria found on raw fruits and vegetables. Since my appetite isn't;t what it once was, I tend to eat less so I really don't worry about calories. I do drink a protein shake when I get up in the morning for energy. It's important to try to eat a good meal when you are feeling well...you don't want to let your stomach be empty for too long since that can make you nauseous too. My chemo nurses advised me to eat what I want when I want, so if I feel like McDonald's I eat it! Some foods I used to love just don't taste the same now (eggs, deli sandwiches, Italian food) so I don't force it. Hope this helps! A low fat, raw food diet based on fruit and veggies would be helpful and possibly even stop/heal the cancer if it wasn't progressed too far. |
