Menstrual problems, worse than ever?

Hi everyone, I should probably preface this by saying if you're squeamish about blood don't read on.

I'm female (obviously), 20 years old, short and of average weight. I have gotten my period since I was about 12, and it has almost always been kind of heavy, but this month it's a lot worse than usual. I am used to having large clots along with it, but again, it's worse this month. Happens every time I stand up and sometimes when I'm just sitting. My mother has a history of uterine cancer and uterine fibroids, but she did not suffer from either of those when she was even close to my age. I had an abnormal pap smear result but my doctor said that it probably means nothing - sometimes the first PAP is abnormal because they overanalyze it and have nothing to compare it to. I can't see my own doctor until October because I am at college, but should I see a doctor around here? Can it wait? Is this just hormonal and inconvenient, or is it something to be worried about? Thanks

I forgot to say this - I'm on Niferex for anemia, which I've had for a very long time. I used to be on over the counter iron supplements, but they made me have severe chest pains and nausea, so now I was switched to this prescription.

I would see another doctor. I'm not sure I would go back to the same doctor again either. When things are abnormal, you should have more tests done to rule everything else out. doesn't matter if a test is over analyzed or not. It doesn't sound like the first doctor did that and your family history says otherwise! Your young age doesn't mean you can't have fibroids or other issues. Your clots seem excessive too. Better to be safe than sorry.

I would definitely see another doctor.

Did you notice a change in your diet? Maybe too much salt? Or maybe something that offsets it? It could mean you don't have enough iron. Sorry to hear that. I wish I could help.

I would def. see another doctor. If it's something serious then you don't wanna mess around with that! Good luck!

these kinds of things can feel really freaky and make you anxious - i understand that feeling!!
personally, given your family history and personal history, i would see a doctor to reassure yourself that it's nothing to be worried about.
but i wouldn't worry to much about it - it may be nothing and it could be a good worry wasted! then again, if it IS something, you will have sorted it out in time. it may be just a form of heavy menstrual bleeding and the doc may have some suggestions how to manage it.
good luck.

go see another doc
