Weird periods?

I am 43 years old. For the first time ever I have had two periods in one month. Started on December 1st, then again on December 15th, and today is day number 7. It just keeps hanging on. I'm still having a little cramping too. I have three big fibroids that I need to get removed one day (when I have insurance or can afford it). When do you worry about uterine cancer? My 83 year-old grandmother just had a hysterectomy due to uterine cancer. Could I be perimenopausal? I have just had a normal pap smear and mammogram. Any thoughts?

It could be the fibroids. My mom had fibroids and they caused her to have irregular bleeding. Her bleeding ended up (after a while) being almost constant and the fibroids were so severe that she had to have a hysterectomy.

I think that you are postmenopausal. My mothers period wont come for months and then it's back lasting longer than you would think. Irregular periods is normal at this stage in your life. Your ovaries produce less eggs hence the drop in period frequency. There is nothing wrong with going to the doctor to find out what the actual problem is. Cancerous questions would be best answered by a knowledgeable doc.

Hope this shed some light.
