Urticaria - does anyone have this??

I have had itchy skin which is triggered by cold and warmth for about 5 years now, there is no rash to be seen and lasts up to 3 hrs especially after a shower, bath or swimming. I am on my 3rd different anti hystermine which again isn't working. Help!!!!!

The guy before me beat me to it. I won't repeat him

It's also called nettle rash. Although it's itchy, it's quite harmless. In fact people with urticaria are less likely to develope skin cancers (but don't push you're luck).

I suggest you forget about antihistamines. They have their uses but they also have side effects.

Try Nelson's Calendula Cream. They sell it in Boots, but you can also get it mail order - just type it into your search engine. It's very soothing. I don't know if the homeopathic dose of calendula petals does any good - but it makes it smell nice!

Hello,

I have Urticaria - its annoying to say the least - I have had it for about a year now and I find that if I take a regular anti histimine it regulates it. I take Zirtek and Telfast both twice a day - I find it does make me a bit dopey - but I can live with it rather than a rash which I used to have all over my body every day. Once you regulate it, it usually controls it and you dont suffer as much - well thats my experience of it but make sure you go to a Dermotology clinic - they will really help you.

Have you thought about trying aloe vera gel. Its very calming- try to get the cold pressed variety if you can (the purer the better) -any reputable health food shop should sell these products.
Good luck

Hi,

I too have suffered with this awful isant it?, it stayed with me for about a year and it was awful. I too went through loads of different anti hystemine's but with no effect im on telfast now which by far are the most effective. dont bother with the creams unless its mild as they seldom work (if your like me you'll end up itching with the tube) as i said if you havent tried it ask for Telfast, hope it clears up for you soon and take care.
