Acute urticaria...anyone else out there suffer from this?

My husband has had this condition for years. He has been to dozens of doctors, and tried a plethra of drugs. We even went to the Mayo clinic for help. Needless to say, they still dont know why he gets these hives, and no real cure for them either. He has stumped the medical world.

Wow, I thought I was just a freak!
I have been hospitalized twice in the last two years because of it. It first showed up on my face until the swelling and itching got so bad across my eyes that I couldn't open my eyes and my entire head changed shape! I went to allergists and doctors and nothing would work.
The second one was much worse. I ended up in the ER and ICU for a whole week because it was in my digestive and respiratory systems. Nobody could figure it out and it scared me to death. I carry an epi-pen with me now but I am not convinced that it will actually do anything if I should begin to have another outbreak.

I attribute it to my stress levels. So my answer is if traditional medicine can't help me then I will turn to alternative medicine. I do a lot of yoga and meditation. I work very hard to stay connected spiritually and I always use my vacation days. Traditional medicine kept me alive when I couldn't eat and breath but it had no preventative measures so I use my own.
I hope this helps, good luck!

If he has recurrent urticaria going on for years, it's not acute but considered CHRONIC. Check out the website www.chronichives.com Report It

i have a friend who suffers from this condition, not acute anymore, it's more of chronic urticaria.it's been 4-5 years, on and off, sometimes really bad, sometimes mild. been to many doctors, no known cause.

have suffered from hives for long periods almost all my life.i am 70 yrs. old. from various things, infected tonsils., infected sinus, exposure to dog, foods, desentization, pred paks, antihistimines, time and avoidance are the only things that have helped. three times i have had them for 18 months.
