My child has chronic urticaria, what is the best cure, treatment and medication for this? Yahoo groups has a wonderful website www.chronicurticaria.com with a lot of information and a forum in which to ask questions. As far as I know, there is no real cure and in my case, there is no known cause. Many people think that hives are caused by allergies, but they can also be idiopathic, like mine are. What medication? Whatever works for your child, mostly a cocktail of anti-histamines are perscribed until the doctors can find what works to manage them. Over the 7 years I have had chronic idiopathic urticaria, I have been on most of the commonly perscribed anti-histamines none of which worked. They finally put me on an anti-malarial drug in combination with some anti-histamines that "manages" them, but there is almost never a day that goes by that I don't have hives present somewhere on my body. Some methods to relieve the itching and swelling are commonly available. My favorite is oatmeal. You can buy collodial oatmeal baths by Aveeno or Equate, you can also buy Oatmeal moisturizer. Oatmeal really helps relieve the itching and in combination with baking soda or epsom salts thrown in the bath, helps with muscle aches and swelling. You can also make the oatmeal bath yourself by whirring up a cup in the blender, putting it in an old sock and squeezing the slime onto the hives and into the bath. must be some reason for this, this is a common response to an allergen.....as a child, we took a bath in baking soda and that helped...there may be other preparations now availble, but ask the dr why......? You haven麓t given much info, but as the other just said, there IS some kind of reason for it, even if it is too hard to find, or the doctors give up. even i have it for as long as i can remember. 1st you need to identify wat triggers it i took years to come to know that it is due to stress n tensions trust me whenever i got a scolding or got real worried or i'm tense n yes when i'm about to begin wid my periods i get hot itchy swelly patches. it has taken me a lot of time to deal wid them b'coz they r embarassing n can cause disruption in daily life it is best to b v.v. patient n take time to identify the cause don't go in for steroids at any cost i'm still in trouble thogh i had left them yrs ago it gives u more of side effects than effects go for anti allergic medicines n try to keep ur kid comfortable it must be tough for him/her too i haven't actually found a permanent cure but it is in control after my councelling sessions n my increasing will to get rid of it urticaria can be due some food stuffs also. monitor the diet n observe if their is any specific pattern to it b real real pateint n best of luck!! god bless |
