Does any one know what cholinergic urticaria is?

if you are familiar with this, what kind of perscription should i take?

Cholinergic urticaria is a very common form of hives. It manifests as multiple, small, 2 to 3 mm red hives on the upper trunk and arms, although it can occur from the neck to the thighs. These hives appear in response to a rise in body temperature from exercise, overheating, or stress.

Cholinergic urticaria can be treated by limiting strenuous exercise. It responds well to a medication called hydroxyzine, which is an antihistamine. However, the main side effect of sleepiness is often not tolerated well. Showering with hot water may cause a release of histamine throughout the body depleting histamine stores and causing a 24-hour refractory period.

Cholinergic urticaria is a relatively common disorder of the immune system characterized by an immediate skin reaction (hypersensitivity) to heat, emotional stress, and/or exercise. Symptoms of the disorder include the appearance of distinctive small skin eruptions (hives) with well-defined borders and pale centers, surrounded by patches of red skin (wheal-and-flare reaction). These red areas are typically intensely itchy (pruritus). Occasionally, cholinergic urticaria may be associated with systemic symptoms such as fever and/or difficulty breathing.

The symptoms of cholinergic urticaria may develop due to the reaction of specific immune system antibodies to certain antigens, leading to a hypersensitivity response and the wheal-and-flare reaction that is typical of cholinergic urticaria.

You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist about getting some kind of medication that treats hives. I think thats really all you can do for this. But, as always, consult a medical professional!

Cholinergic urticaria is one of the forms of hives brought on by a physical stimulus. Although the physical stimulus might be considered to be heat, the actual precipitating cause is sweating.
