If you were on a beach and there was a cute girl in bikini, would you be grossed out if she had a urostomy?

I'm so embarassed because i have this ugly thing hanging from my side, (about 3 inches above bellybutton). I've recently lost a LOT of weight and want to show off, but I'm worried I'll gross everybody out. I've never been able to, as I've had this since I was 5. 24 years later and engaged, I want to buy my first bikini. Honeymoon's coming up! Please inform...

(it's like a colostomy... but only for #1 instead of #2) I've had it and several other surgeries.. along with a kidney transplant 15 years ago, so I have some scars.

I am going to be totally honest here. If I saw a girl with a scar on her belly I wouldn't think anything negative about her appearance. I would wonder what happened but nothing more than that. I wouldn't be grossed out at all; I would be more grossed out at the sight of an old man in speedos!
I think we, as women worry too much about what others are thinking and compare ourselves to other women. We are somehow blinded to the truth when it comes down to our appearance. If we keep on doing that, there will always be someone "better looking" or 鈥渟kinner鈥?in our eyes. Thus we'll never be satisfied. We should embrace our beauty and what we have and who we are and be proud of our bodies.
I think it鈥檚 great that you lost the weight!! Congratulations!! Don't let anyone or anything ruin this new experience in your life.
You have a loving future husband who I'm sure loves you for who you are and accepts every beautiful imperfection you may have.
I believe scars give us character. It should also come as a reminder, thanks to the surgery you鈥檙e healthy and here now.

I don't know what a urostomy is but if this thing is just hanging from your side then you could look for some surgery.

Congratulations on your weight loss and your surgeries being successful. Celebrate being alive and healthy, number one. Of course you should wear a bikini. All of us girls have self image issues, perhaps instead of us tearing one another apart , we should encourage. I don't know many girls who have the body of Paris Hilton, so I think that if you are comfortable, go right ahead. I always am self conscious of what I wear and then I see other girls who have more to worry about than I do , wearing worse. It's about your comfort and happiness. . . I say Go For It!

Congrats on the engagement! If you have someone who is getting ready to marry you and isn't grossed out by the urostomy,then go have fun. His opinion is the only one that matters (along with yours). If you are comfortable in the bikini then go for it.

Well I'm not going to be grossed out, but some folks might be. A big part of it is that people really don't know what it is that they are looking at.

Personally, I think that I would go ahead and get a bikini and not worry about it. If it is possible to hide or disguise the urostomy tubing/equipment with tape or something else that might help you and others to be more comfortable.

So, hey, show it all off!
