General urine tests - do they test for pregnancy? |
I had a urinalysis done today, and I'm curious as to whether there are some set factors that they always check? Another thing, my doctor specialises in gynaecology, and he asked me if I'd had intercourse, and received my period, etc. Does this mean if I'd received my period he would not have had it checked? They usually only test what you pay to get tested. It's unlikely that they'll test and tell you if you're pregnant if you didn't ask for it to be tested. I'm imagining that they can see if your HCG levels are high, but if you don't ask, they won't test for it. No they just test for whatever the Dr suspects you have..In your case infection. They would only test for pregnancy if they had an idea you might be. Your clinician would have told you if they did test for pregnancy along with a negative or posative result. It takes 2 minuites for an HCG Urine test to come back with a result. A general Urinalysis tests for bilirubin, glucose, protein, red blood cells, white blood cells (lukocytes) ketones, pH, and specific gravity(measures the concentration of particles in a solution ). Hope this helps! Take care! |
