Do blood and urine tests test for all possible diseases? |
When the doctor obtains blood and urine samples, do they test for all such as stds and other possible disorders? Or do we have to go to a specialist to test for specific diseases? Simple blood and urine tests do not test for all diseases. Specific tests require different tests and lots of different blood samples in different types of tubes. If you are concerned about a certain condition, ask you doctor about it. It may be covered by the general tests already done, but perhaps not. Far from it mate... far from it... Otherwise, why would we perform any other kind of testing? grumpy doctors notwithstanding, if stds are what you are concerned about, blood and urine will turn most of them up. Lab tests are based on your symptoms and/or what the doctor thinks needs to be checked. Usually, a general doctor will refer to a specialist if she/he thinks it is necessary. It is easier to get an appointment when your general doctor refers you. You cannot detect all kind of diseases by blood and urine sample. You do not need to go to a specialist for the diagnosis of sexually transmitted disease. Any physician can examine and do tests to diagnose STD. |
