Urine Tests and STDs? |
My question is, can a urine test test for the presence of STD(s)? Certain ones yes - Others need a culture and some need blood test. A urine sample will not determine if you have any type of sexually transmitted disease. Once you urinate after intercourse, and bacteria that was in your urethra would have been urinated out. Urine can test for such things as ETOH, protein, glucose, drug toxins, etc. For bacterial sexually transmitted diseases you will need what's called a Genprobe to take a sample from your urethra. A blood draw will test for virual sexually transmitted diseases. |
