24 hr urine test?

My wife has to collect all her urine for 24 hrs, this is the 3rd time he doctor is having her do it in a week!
The first time she did it was last week and her results showed 96 mg of protein, her 2nd which was 2 days after her first was at 196, so it had jumped 100 points in 2 days.
Today she starts her 3rd test, what would happen if she drank a protein shake that has 25 grams of protein in it? She hasn't had one during the last 2 tests, but would this make her levels really elevated?
The doctors are not doing anything for her and her blood pressure has been high, shes had protein in her urine, and blurred vision with head aches.
Sorry if this is a dumb question.

She should not ingest anything that she would not ordinarily consume. If they're checking for protein in her urine, they're looking for something VERY specific (what should be explained by the doctor), but ANYTHING that might skew the results could put your wife at risk for being misdiagnosed, which in turn could cause her MORE harm when they mistreat her.

If she's gone a few days without the extra protein, it's not going to harm anything. Just have her do the same things she did with the other two tests to make sure that there is no misdiagnosis.

They are asking her to collect 24 hour urines to properly diagnose her pregnancy induced hypertension. If it is severe she may develop pre-eclampsia, which is severe hypertension in pregnancy. If the protein is elevated to high it can put your wife and her baby at risk.
