Blood test vs urine test?

i read that urine tests can tell a lot of info, even though a blood test can tell more. im 20 years old and havent had a blood test since i was 11 or 12 and lately ive been feeling "weird" and have some days where i dont feel right and i feel off (for the past year.) i also have anxiety, which might cause these physial symptoms that make me feel off....such as dazed, tired, nausea...no colds or illnesses though even though im lactose intolerant and have slight sinus problems

my question is, is it ok to get a complete urine test to see if theres anything wrong with me instead of (or before) a blood test?? cause im sooo scared of needles...
thank u :-)

There are more things in urine than you think. Urine is a waste product. You can find hormones ( pregnancy test-HCG), amino acids (cysteine), DNA of gonnorhea and chlamydia, heavy metals/toxins ( mercury, lead, pesticides), etc. This is in addition to the basic urinalysis, which can detect proteins, evidence of bacteria infection, ketones, sugar, etc.
There is a special little needle called a "butterfly" which has some tubing attached to it. This is used on small veins and children. This needle hurts the least so you might want to ask for it.
I would ask for the following blood test, complete metabolic chemistry panel ( with enzymes), thyroid function, complete blood count, b12/ folate, ferritin, allergy panel, HIV, and pregancy test (HCG).
The urine- urinalysis, ask for PCR test for urine Chlamydia and Gonnorrhea. Chlamydia is an STD that usually has no symptoms and can cause infertility!! I don't mean to be rude but plently of women are infected and do not know it!! I recommend testing because at least you know what your status is-- I personally have known women who tested positive and unfortunately realized that their husbands were cheating on them. One of the husbands actually tried to use this in their divorce proceeding but lucky she found out that he had been treated for STDS. True story.
Good luck to you and don't be afraid of needles. I actually had a lady who was so worried about the needle hurting, that she didn't even realize that I already drawn the blood sample.

Speaking of urine, I like to piss on little kids that ask me for stuff. Then I throw them in holes and release bees all over them.

Urine tests are very limited in what they can analyze for and as a diagnostic tool.

the two tests are for different things. It would be better for you to have both..urine test will not determine if you are anemic..blood test will....and there are other differences also.
needles are sharper than 9 yeasrs ago so it wont be as bad as you remember

well im young and im also scared of blood tests and it does make me feel light headed but not for long and blood tests defintely help u find out more than urane tests so if you r in danger of dying a urine test might not be able to tell you u were in danger of dying but a blood test most likely will-AKA take a blood test i hope i helped:)

A basic urine screen will tell if you have a bladder or kidney infection which is one of the biggest reasons they are used. It usually checks 10 specifics on there. It checks for occult blood, leukocytes, nitrites, glucose, pH, specific gravity, bilirubin etc. It would be much easier to get a needle stick because many things can be tested from a vial of blood.

you will have to get over your fear of needles because a blood test is always the best answer.

you need to have a blood test. A urine test will not show you much about what is going on.

You need to go to the doctor and he will determaine what you need. I would share your fear of needles and discussthis with him. I have a son who is Type 1 diabetic and has had to inject insulin twice daily with a needle or else he will die. You would be amazed what you can do if you have to.

The test will show it to be dilute, and thus it is suspected of being positive. A good toxicology lab will be able to detect the chemical anyway!!!
